Social media, especially Facebook, is fantastic opportunity for churches and Pastors to connect with church members and members of their community. But, like most things, Facebooking as a Pastor can cause more harm than good if not done right.
Paul Steinbrueck over at Christian Web Trends posted a couple articles with “18 Ways Pastors Can Ruin Their Reputation on Facebook” that have a lot of good things to keep in mind as pastors connect with people through Facebook.
One of the commenter’s added:
19: Begging for gifts or tithes.
I would also add one more to the list…
20. Post every Christian “chain wall post” that comes along. Personally, I would rather no one posted anything that ended with “…If this is true for you, post it to your wall”. But that’s just me.
